Why we love the Food in Maleny
When we were travelling around the central coast, we found a stunning gem in the mountains called Maleny. We couldn’t help to stay there for a few days and have a try of the great shops and restaurants. Whether you’re a foodie, a coffee lover, or simply in search of a relaxing escape, Maleny offers an array of delicious experiences. We wanted to share with you the top eateries in Maleny that you must try!
Maleny Lane

Maleny Lane is one of the most popular places to eat in Maleny. It is a vibrant food court-style eatery that brings together a mix of international flavors, we tried amazing Greek food, Korean specialties, Nepalese dishes and Ayurvedic cuisine. Maleny lane has also life music performances and community events where you can meet with the locals which are always happy and welcoming. Openning times are from 8 am to 3pm from Tuesday to Sunday with extended hours on Friday and from 5:30 to 8:30pm on Mondays.
Prices vary from place to place in the Lane but you will always find great service and quality food.
The Barrel Maleny

If you love wine and good food, The Barrel Maleny is the place to be. Shaped like an actual wine barrel, this iconic venue is part of the Clouds Vineyard and offers a great selection of local wines, craft beers, and a delicious menu that pairs perfectly with their drinks. You can find an extensive list of options of wines and crafted beers as well as Bistro type of food, we enjoyed of a great Cheese Burger and Market Fish and Chips. There are also veggie options. The Barrel is an excellent stop for a relaxed afternoon with stunning views of the hinterland. They are open every day till 4 but Wednesday and Thursday. However, you can make group bookings and special events as well if you wish to stay longer.

A cozy and welcoming café in the heart of Maleny, Sarah’s unplugged serves fantastic coffee, wholesome meals, and mouth-watering baked goods. With a focus on fresh, local ingredients, this coffee shop is an excellent spot for breakfast or a quick bite while exploring the town. Our best picks at Sarah’s were the Spanish cheesecake and the Halloumi wrap, however, there are lots more quality meals and cakes that you’ll sure enjoy. The portions at this coffee shop are quite generous and the prices are fantastic. The atmosphere there was quite calm and down to earth, they keep the traditional service of a coffee shop and high hospitality standards.

For those with a sweet tooth, Maleny Chocolate Company is a dream come true. This boutique chocolate shop offers handmade, artisan chocolates crafted with high-quality ingredients. It is located down stairs in the main road of Maleny, this beautiful boutique will give you the chance to experience the chocolate in a different way, you can get tastings and enjoy the fresh chocolate handmade creations. We discovered this amazing place, run buy a lovely couple from Maleny, and realized that this was one of the most delicious ice cream we had tried. The handcrafted ice cream rolls are not only delicious but also a fun experience to watch as they are prepared right in front of you. There are plenty of interesting flavours to choose from, our favourites are Pavlova and Rum and Raisins. You can also add toppings and choose from Taco Ice cream or rolled ice cream. A well-loved local artisan and food producer in Maleny. It is a great option to have a coffee and cake, try a gelato or taste any of their favorites cheeses. The environment in this place is quite relaxed and cheeses were super high quality, you can find lots of varieties of cheese and charcuterie. Prices are very reasonable and you can have great options for breakfast, lunch and afternoon tea. You can also pick up a selection of wines or taste the local Brouhaha Beer from the local brewery.
King Ludwigs German Restaurant and Bavarian Beer Bar

For a taste of Germany in the heart of Maleny, King Ludwigs is a must-visit. Offering authentic Bavarian dishes, hearty portions, and an impressive selection of German beers, this restaurant provides a unique and immersive dining experience. Plus, the views of the Glass House Mountains from the restaurant are simply breathtaking. It is about 5 minutes drive from the main town of Maleny, which gives you the perfect combination between closeness to the town but also the quietness of the country side. The views are amazing and the atmosphere is interesting. The staff dresses up with traditional German costumes, which makes the scenery much more realistic and the food is to die for like their Barramundi and their Rindergoulasch.
